For our 15th wedding anniversary, Matt and I took a little trip to celebrate. We spent the first night in Memphis. We headed straight for Beale Street after we got there but I didn't get any good photos. This is it:
The next day we headed to Gus's Fried Chicken. We followed directions on the GPS and took Lamar Avenue, which we later would learn is one of the most dangerous streets in the US. Then we went into the Whitehaven Wal-Mart and I was definitely out of my comfort zone. We also later learned that going into that Wal-Mart was probably not the smartest place to go when you're a tourist. Thankgoodness, we safely made it to Gus's Fried Chicken. It is a "little hole in the wall" place but there was a nice line of people outside waiting to get in.
My boss had told me that they were supposed to have the best chicken in Memphis and I would have to agree. Even though it was the only place we ate chicken in Memphis. The fried pickles were even better than the chicken!
Next, we took the monorail to Mud Island:
Mud Island was one of the locations used in the movie, "The Firm" with Tom Cruise.
My photos of Mud Island aren't very good, it was way cooler in real life.
I took a photo of this couple, I have no idea who they are, and I apologize that it is a crappy quality photo. I told them I would post it on here. So "Hi" whoever you are! :)

We weren't allowed to use a flash inside the house, but I was pretty pleased with how my pics turned out. And you know that doesn't happen very often. :)
This is the staircase that Elvis would come down. We were not allowed to go upstairs. Apparently not many people went upstairs while he was alive and they wanted to respect that.

I told this story on facebook but I am going to tell it again on here . . . I was wearing the provided headphones so I could listen to the story of Elvis as I walked around on the tour and I started talking about this guest:
And Matt leans over and says, "Kristi, you are talking louder than you think you are!"
Damn headphones!
I laughed, the lady next to me laughed. I think we all were thinking the same thing, I was just saying it OUTLOUD!
Now I know my dad is disappointed that I blurred her face . . . Dad, believe me, she looks much better this way. lol Not only did she wear her Easter dress to Graceland, so did her mother. And they enjoyed blocking everyone's view of the front of the house so they could get some pics. Needless to say . . . I snapped away!!! :)
I would have been crying when I got up to the gravestone but I had just finished laughing about my big mouth.
If you get a chance to go to Graceland . . . GO, I think you will enjoy it.
